US Soldiers In Afghanistan Use Gunsights With Biblical Markings

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Coded references to biblical passages are inscribed on gunsights widely used by the US and British military in Iraq and Afghanistan, it has emerged.

The markings include `2COR4:6` and `JN8:12`, relating to verses in the books of II Corinthians and John.

Trijicon, the US-based manufacturer, was founded by a devout Christian, and says it runs to `Biblical standards.`"

This revelation gives ammunition to the multitudes of Muslims all over the world who are convinced that the United States is engaged in a holy war against Islam. How can the American government possibly justify issuing weapons with Biblical inscriptions to our soldiers in Iraq And Afghanistan?

This is a blatant attack on the sacred principle of separation of church and state. All references to a deity should be removed not only from weapons, but from our currency, and everything else that is connected to the government.

To have a Bible verses inscribed on weapons that kill and maim, is an outrage to common sense and a sacrilegious to those who believe in a God of love and peace. I don`t know what`s more deplorable, a homicide bomber who shouts "God is Great" before detonating his bomb, or an American soldier who kills enemy soldiers, and all too often civilians, with a weapon inscribed with Biblical markings.

There should be no US military weapons inscribed with Biblical references, but if the government doesn`t want to recall these "holy" weapons, they should order weapons manufacturers to inscribe Muslim, Jewish, Pagan and Satanic messages as well.

Military weapons with religious markings are an obscenity, and the American people should demand that these weapons be destroyed.
