Guru Claims He Can Kill Anyone Using Only His Mental Powers

By Robert Paul Reyes

"When a famous tantric guru boasted on television that he could kill another man using only his mystical powers, most viewers either gasped in awe or merely nodded unquestioningly. Sanal Edamaruku`s response was different. `Go on then - kill me,` he said.

guruMr. Edamaruku had been invited to the same talk show as head of the Indian Rationalists` Association - the country`s self-appointed skeptic-in-chief. At first the holy man, Pandit Surender Sharma, was reluctant, but eventually he agreed to perform a series of rituals designed to kill Mr. Edamaruku live on television. Millions tuned in as the channel cancelled scheduled programming to continue broadcasting the showdown, which can still be viewed on YouTube." Read More

We may chuckle at the loincloth-clad shamans and charlatans who ply their trade in India, but we have our own polyester-clad televangelists who deceive the masses.

Why an Indian "holy man" would boast that he could kill another man using only his mystical powers is an interesting question. Shouldn`t he be boasting that he can spread love and goodwill with his spiritual powers?

Indian mystics and American televangelists make outrageous claims all the time, and rarely does someone demand that they back up their claims.

When the Indian rationalist challenged the guru to kill him on national TV using only his mental powers, the guru was put in an awkward and embarrassing situation. The guru sprinkled holy water on his intended victim, ruffled the skeptic`s hair, and finally he brandished a knife. (no doubt hoping that the man would fear for his life and die of a heart attack.)

Needless to say the guru was exposed as a fraud. When an American faith healer claims that he (through the power of Jesus) can make the blind see and the deaf to hear, he should be challenged and exposed as a fraud.

There isn`t a single faith healer in America who would accept this challenge: A skeptic would bring a cancer victim or a blind person to the televangelist, and then the preacher goes through his histrionics, and the world would discover if the healing power of Jesus really works.

Wake up people of faith! Think for yourselves! Don`t let gurus and televangelists take advantage of you!
