Nun Excommunicated After She Approved Abortion To Save Woman's Life

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A nun at a Catholic hospital in Phoenix, Arizona was automatically excommunicated after approving an abortion be performed on a patient in order to save the woman`s life, The Arizona Republic reported Saturday.

nunSister Margaret McBride, who was also a long-time administrator at St Joseph`s Hospital and Medical Center, has also been reassigned to other duties, Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, head of the Phoenix Diocese said.

Excommunication forbids the person from participating in church life, including receiving communion, and can only be remedied through an appeal to the Vatican." Read More

The Roman Catholic Church is a patriarchy that treats women like second class citizens. The Sister was already excommunicated from the priesthood, and most positions of leadership. If the nun has a shred of dignity she will cut off all of her ties from the church. Planned Parenthood could use someone with her administrative experience, and they would treat her with the respect that she deserves.

A woman joining the Roman Catholic Church makes as much sense as an African American or a Latino joining the Tea Party Movement. If enough women abandon the Roman Catholic Church, the Pope will be forced to change his Neanderthal views on abortion.

The Roman Catholic Church cares more about remaining doctrinally pure, than it does about the woman who needed an abortion to save her life.

Only medical science and not religious mumbo jumbo should be taken into consideration when making any medical decision.

I would advise all Roman Catholics who are pro-choice not to patronize Catholic hospitals.
