Here`s some questions that I`m often asked.

Did you always like to read? Yes, as you can see in this picture, books were always one of my favorite toys. I loved this book so much that I wouldn`t take my picture without it.

What books were your favorites? When I was really little, I loved The Sleepy Puppy by Mary Jo Chamberlin and Playtime for Nancy by Margaret O. Hyde. When I was a bit older I loved to read biographies. I also loved The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare, Little Women, all the Nancy Drew Books and all of the Little House books. I still love to read books for kids. My favorites include Owl Moon by Jane Yolen, Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia MacLachlan and books by Donna Jo Napoli.

Did you always want to be a writer? No, when I was growing up I wanted to be a veterinarian because I loved animals. In fact, I majored in biology and chemistry in college. Writing was just a hobby. When I grew up I learned that I could combine the things I loved. That is why I like to write about nature and animals.

When were you first published? I had a poem published in SEVENTEEN magazine when I was 16 years old.

What are your hobbies now? I have a lot of hobbies. I like to take photos, hike, kayak, scrapbook and travel with my family.

What kind of family do you have? I have a husband, a daughter, a golden retriever, a cat and an occasional turtle
