Iranian Hercules Bids Farewell to Olympics

By Suren Hossein

Two-time Olympic gold medalist has pulled out of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on Thursday due to long time injury.

Rashid Sharifi will participate in over 105 kg class in Olympic as Rezazadeh`s replacement.

The President of Iran`s Weightlifting Federation had already told media Rezazadeh without a doubt is set to participate in the event.

"Rezazadeh will undoubtedly take part in the Olympics. He is in shape now and set to win his third Olympic gold medal in Beijing," said Bahram Afsharzadeh to Mehrnews correspondent last month.

Rezazadeh nicknamed the Iranian Hercules has not yet participated in any competition after a car accident last year.

Rezazadeh has already won two gold medals in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004.
