Outrage: Mike Vick Has Reality Show
"Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will star in an eight-part documentary series set to run on BET early in 2010, according to the Los Angeles Times.
`I just want people to really get to know me as an individual,` says Vick, who served 18 months in prison for animal cruelty charges involving dog fighting.
Producers say the tentatively titled The Michael Vick Project is a docu-series, not a typical reality show like VH-1`s The T.O. Show, starring another NFL headline-maker: Terrell Owens." Read More
The T.O Show is a typical reality show, in other words it`s an unreal version of Terrell`s life, focusing on the excesses of the controversial wide receiver. I don`t need to watch the T.O Show to know that Owens is a poor excuse for a human being.
BET wants to give the impression that it isn`t exploiting and profiting from Vick`s notoriety by calling "The Michael Vick Project" a docu-series instead of a reality show.
Whether it`s a documentary or a typical reality show, Vick`s pathetic life isn`t worthy of any introspection. You don`t need to watch "The Michael Vick Project" to really get to know Vick as an individual. We already know that he`s a low-life scum who gave the finger to his own fans, gave genital herpes to a girlfriend and brutally killed dogs.
Any fool who watches this despicable program is enabling a criminal. BET should stick to what it does best: Exploiting black women by airing music videos that depicts them as wh*res.
