Sponsors Abandoning Toxic Tiger Woods

Sponsors Abandoning Toxic Tiger Woods

By Robert Paul Reyes

"AT&T Inc said it has terminated its sponsorship agreement with Tiger Woods, joining the list of companies that have distanced themselves from the golfer in the wake of a sex scandal." Reuters

Tiger Woods, the man who at one time had the golden touch, has turned into the Toxic Avenger. Any company associated with the disgraced golfer, is paying a heavy price. It`s estimated that the cost to shareholders of corporations endorsed by Woods is anywhere from $5 billion to $12 billion.

AT&T is doing the right thing, morally and financially, by cutting all ties with the low-life golfer. Kudos to the other companies including Accenture and Proctor & Gamble who have kicked Tiger to the curb.

The companies that are standing by Woods, most notably Nike, will pay a stiff price. Nike has a sordid history of contracting with sweat shops in China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Mexico, the corrupt company must feel a kinship with the cowardly, unethical and arrogant Tiger Woods.

My advice to people who are sick and tired of arrogant athletes who feel they are above to law is to stop buying the products they endorse. Just do it, and boycott Nike.
