Brit Hume: Tiger Woods Needs Jesus Christ

By Robert Paul Reyes

Fox News journalist cum preacher Brit Hume advised the nominally Buddhist Tiger Woods to turn to Jesus. Hume always looks like he is sucking on a lemon -- I doubt that he can persuade anyone to convert to Christianity.

"...Whether he can recover as a person depends on `his faith`. He`s said to be a Buddhist. I don`t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith. So my message to Tiger would be, `Tiger, turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.`"

Brit Hume speaking of Tiger Woods (As reported by USA Today)

You can distill the Christian religion into the Golden Rule, and the Buddhist faith can be summed up by the concept of karma. Same difference!

Regardless what religion Tiger subscribes to, a superstar of his caliber is going to be faced with many temptations. An evangelical isn`t going to find it any easier than a Buddhist to ignore a beautiful woman who is coming on to him.

It`s about being true to your moral values, regardless if you are a Christian, Buddhist or an agnostic. In his commercials Tiger presented himself as the consummate professional athlete and a loving family man. Tiger has been exposed as a fraud of epic proportions, he is the antitheses of his public image.

If Tiger did "come to Jesus" it would be a public relations disaster, the public wouldn`t be fooled by his transparent attempt to clean up his sullied image.

Brit Hume should stick to political pontificating, and leave the preaching to the professional con artists like Pat Robertson. At least a televangelist knows how to slap a fake smile on his face.
