Who Cares Who Won The World Cup? It Was All About The Vuvuzelas

By Robert Paul Reyes

`Vuvuzela` has been voted the word of the World Cup by global linguists who said Monday the tournament will be best remember for the name of South Africa`s deafening trumpet." AFP
In a couple of weeks I will forget who won the World Cup, and I sure as hell am not going to remember any players or specific plays.

The phrase "World Cup" doesn`t fill me with excitement, it has none of the pizazz of "Super Bowl" or "World Series."

When I think of the World Cup, the color green comes to mind, as in grass growing. The word "vuvuzela" conjures up images of zombies blowing the neon-colored horns of Satan.

The word "vuvuzela" fills me with dread, I`ve had nightmares of being trapped in a stadium with thousands of demons brandishing vuvuzelas.

Vuvuzela is not only the word of the World Cup, it is the word of the year.
