Giving The Gift of Brilliance
As 2007 draws to a close, I would especially like to stop and thank you, my Brilliant Carat readers. Your feedback, comments and encouragement constantly remind me what a privilege it is to connect with you. For our final touch point this year, I'd like to share a quick story with you-- one that you may or may not know.
Five years ago, I took a leap of faith and left Corporate America to passionately pursue my mission: To inspire 10% of the almost 6.5 billion people on the planet to find their passion and to release their brilliance. I stepped out on nothing but a dream, a business plan, faith in God and my entire life's savings. Why? I believed in the mission.
The gamble paid off.
Since 2002, I've been able to touch the lives of more than 250,000 people around the world, from South Africa to Singapore. I'm humbled that my self-published book, Release Your Brilliance, has had an especially powerful effect on tens of thousands of people. Many of you have read Release Your Brilliance and personally contacted me to communicate how it has changed your life. Thank you for sharing your stories.
For those of you who haven't yet read Release Your Brilliance, the following is just a small sampling of the many stories I receive weekly from people who have been touched by the book:
There is something about your writing style and your book itself that stands out from all the other motivational books I’ve read. I just want to release my brilliance and make the most of every second of my gift of life.

My mom got your book and has been reading it out loud. I thought it was pretty good, so we're reading it together. The kids at my school should read it too because it might help the bullies and mean kids to be nicer people. My mom bought a bunch more books to give her friends. I'm giving one to my swim coach tomorrow. I feel like he's a brilliandeer for me. My brother is starting to like your book too. He is older and has problems with friends. I think he lets them steal his brilliance. My mom and dad are now always talking about being brilliant and it's pretty fun.

I polished my diamond and I am shining. I'd gone on several interviews, but I guess my negative thinking was obvious. After 2 days reading your book, something miraculously happened to my inner spirit. It's like you wrote this book for me. Exactly how I was feeling is exactly what you spoke in your book. Anyway, I went to an interview that is exactly what I'm looking for, and they offered me the position!

You and your book have unlocked the vault of my diamond from within. I will never be the same again. You are a blessing to those with an open heart, mind and soul.
Earlier this year, I sold the rights to Release Your Brilliance to HarperCollins Publishers in New York. Joe Tessitore, the president of HarperCollins at the time, and Ethan Friedman, my editor, believed in me and in the book. Using the metaphor that we're all diamonds in the rough, the book shares the four key steps to reawaken your genius, re-ignite your internal light and release your potential. It guides the reader's transformation with interactive tools such as Personal Appraisal exercises, Diamond Polishing action steps and true-life stories of Living Diamonds.
HarperCollins will soon launch Release Your Brilliance: The 4 Steps to Transforming Your Life and Revealing Your Genius to the world for worldwide distribution. This updated and revised hardcover edition has loads of fresh content:
• New and engaging exercises that will challenge you to take the next step in releasing your brilliance;
• Additional Living Diamond stories that provide a framework for brilliance;
• A special offer for the 4 Steps to Releasing Your Brilliance DVD that takes the principles presented in the book to the next level.
As you can imagine, I am humbled and inspired by the possibilities of this opportunity, as well as the potential to further my mission to touch 10% of the world's people. By now, you're probably wondering where this is leading. Well, as loyal readers of the Brilliant Carats, I'm inviting you to help others in your circle of influence find and reveal their potential while helping us spread the word about Release Your Brilliance.
