Drive strives to be on top of the ratings race on Monday nights

By Garrett Godwin

From Tim Minear, writer for Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and Angel, comes a new series, where the stakes are very high and the race is on.  So, it is time to put the petal to the metal and Drive.

The series follows several strangers coersed into participating in a dangerous, illegal cross-country race where there are no rules.  The winner gets $32 million dollars.  Some of these reluctant drivers were forcefully chosen to enter, and each has different reasons to be in the race.  For instance, Alex Tully (Nathan Fillon) has entered because his wife has been kidnapped by the mysteroius yet shadowy sponsers of the race.  These people have been chosen to enter this race, and most of them don't even know why they've been picked.  But all they know is one thing: winning is everything.. because to some, it is a matter of life and death.

Debuted last Sunday as a two-hour opener, Drive screeches its way onto Monday nights at 8pm.  So far, their rank in the ratings isn't very good.  The series must pick up speed against their competition to stay in the running for another season, or else they'll be dead last and FOX will pull the breaks and no longer sponser Drive.

And FOX is notorious for cancelling innovative, unconventional shows like DRIVE prematurely, because of low ratings... instead of giving the show a chance to develop and find its audience.

When the risks are high, that means that everything is on the line.  So, watch who'll reach the finish line and receive the prize with Drive, Mondays at 8pm on FOX.
