The Best of Soul Train: September 15

The Best of Soul Train: September 15

By Garrett Godwin

Soul Train: Television`s longest-running, syndicated music program is the hippest place to be with guest stars on this day of September 15:

1973 - Fred Wesley & the JB`s performing "Doing it to Death" and "If You Don`t Get it the First Time; Lyn Collins with "Take Me as I Am", and The Sly, The Slick and the Wicked with "Sho` Nuff".

1979- A tribute to the late Minnie Riperton who passed away on July 12, 1979 with a 1974 performance of her #1 hit, "Lovin` You".  Also appearing was Stevie Wonder performing that song as well as "Perfect Angel" in honor of her, and Wintley Phipps with "I Give You My Life" and "Sing a Song of Love".

And let`s not forget the Soul Train Dancers -- with your host Don Cornelius bringing you once again another ride on the Train

But if you miss it, then no look further because you can still catch The Best of Soul Train every weekend in syndication, so check your local listings.

And you can bet your last dollar, it was -- and still is -- all gonna be a stone gas, honey.

This is Garrett Godwin, and like my man Don and everyone at the Train, We wish you love, peace... and SOUL!
