Supernatural S3 DVD Review

Supernatural S3 DVD Review

By Garrett Godwin

Every day has been nothing but Halloween for brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, who`s spent their lives keeping "the family business" going: hunting demons, saving people, and yet staying one step ahead of the law.  Now, they face their most difficult mission: waging a war to not only save humanity, but also save one`s soul.

Season three of Supernatural consists of 16 strike-shortened episodes yet continues to hit their stride in the genre of sci-fi, fantasy, and horror.  Extras include a gag reel, several extras that include a featurette of the Impala, and much more.

The death of Yellow-Eyed Demon could`ve been a celebration for Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean, but not without consequences.  Dean (Jensen Ackles) sold his soul to bring back his little sibling from death, and now he has a year to live.  And if that`s worse, the Devil`s Gate has been opened, and over 200 demons have escaped and on the loose to bring havoc on Earth.  So, it is up to the Winchester brothers to stop the rising tide of evil and raise a little Hell here -- while trying to keep one of them from going down there permanently.

This season marks the introduction of two new, mysterious female characters: Ruby (Katie Cassidy) and Bela (Lauren Talbot).  One is a demon while the other is a highly skilled exception thief, and they serve to cause trouble for the Winchester brothers such as calling in the FBI on them.

Season three starts with the duo taking on the Seven Deadly Sins, being guest stars of the reality series Ghostfacers, celebrating their first Christmas, and looking for the demon that holds the contract of Dean`s soul.  When it comes to Sam and Dean Winchester, there won`t be "No Rest for the Wicked" as long as they`re around.

This Halloween weekend, get Supernatural with its third season, available on DVD.
