(Ft. Pierce, Fla.) Man Stabbed with a Machete

By Matthew Kent

A 19-year-old man was stabbed in the head with a machete last Thursday by eight Hispanic males, Ft. Pierce Police investigators said. Officer David Cuti arrived on the scene in the 1700 block of Georgia Avenue, responding to a call of a disturbance. Initial police reports stated that he saw the victim, Jose Alexandro, sitting on the side of the road bleeding from the head.

Alexandro stated to police that the suspects attacked him, they fled shortly thereafter. The victim stated to police that he could only tell that they were Hispanic and that one of the suspects had an unknown tattoo on their arm. Alexandro was transported by St. Lucie Fire Rescue units to a landing zone and was flown to St. Mary's Trauma Center for stab wounds to the back of the neck, police reports stated.

Cuti, along with four other officers, interviewed the eight suspects and concluded that one of the suspects had a cut top lip and some blood on his shirt.

The suspect told police that he cut his lip at work while roofing. The suspects, who were not identified as of press time, were taken into custody and were charged with unpremeditated murder in the course of a felony.
