A Witness Follows Suspect in a Hit-and-Run
Police arrested a man Thursday, Nov. 24 after hitting a pedestrian on a bicycle in Fort Pierce, Fla.
The hit-and-run happened on the Northwest corner of Okeechobee Road and South 21st street. A witness identified the vehicle as an older model white Cadillac. The driver was described as a white male accompanied by a female passenger.
The victim, a Hispanic male was found unconscious at the scene and transported by air to St. Mary’s hospital.
The witness followed the suspect to a residential area where Officer Grecco located the white Cadillac. The windshield of the vehicle was concaved with front-end damage. Black hair and blood was also found on the windshield.
The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Terry Motes. Passenger, Shannon Disher told police that the two were on their way to buy beer. After leaving the store, they did not see anything until something hit the windshield but Motes told Disher not to worry about it.
Records show that Motes has been convicted for past DUI incidents. He was convicted in 2003 as a habitual traffic offender.
The victim suffered a skull fracture and has not been formally identified.
