BREAKING NEWS: Amber Alert issued for Middleton, Ohio 18-month-old child
By Matthew Kent
Police in Ft. Pierce, Fla. are searching for a vehicle in connection with an Amber Alert out of Middleton, Ohio. The child, 18-months-old, is believed to be traveling with a female suspect named Tammy Johnston, who police say uses the alias of Cynthia Richmond and may pose as the child’s mother.
Police have also stated that Johnston is carrying Richmond’s identification. Johnston, who babysat for the child, recently lost a child of her own. Another suspect in the vehicle, Louis Johnston, 40, is considered armed and dangerous.
Officer Darren Mace spotted the suspects in the area of Avenue D and driving a vehicle described as a 1993 red or maroon Chevy C1500 extended cab with an license plate DDJ9066.
On Monday evening, Middleton Police officials issued an Amber Alert in connection with the child’s disappearance. By Tuesday morning, Mace spotted the vehicle at 5:45 a.m. and noticed some “suspicious activity” before deciding to run the license plate number.
He did not find any traffic violations at that time. Approximately 10 minutes later, Mace received a “hit” to the search identifying the tag as an Amber Alert.
Two other suspects are in the vehicle, a 21-year-old white female and a 19-year-old mentally handicapped female. It is believed the suspects are heading to the Tampa region.
