In the wake of a growing awareness and concern about the presence of gangs in Fort Pierce, Fla., a local church will open its doors to its members and area residents, interested in learning more about gangs.

The training will be held Jan. 8 from 7-9 p.m. at Resurrection Life Family Worship Center, 405 Ixoria Avenue. The department’s Gang Intelligence Analyst Kathy Grace and Detective Daniela Dreizehnter, who is assigned to handle juvenile cases for the department, will conduct the two-hour training.

The session will include information on tips for parents, why gangs are desirable to our youth, how the media glamorizes the gang lifestyle and the dangers of youth being affiliated with a gang. The session will target child, age 10 and up, and parents.
