By Joey O'Donnell

(Ft. Pierce, FL) - The recruiting department of Ft. Pierce Police is hosting a “fast track” day of hire in hopes of developing a pool of applicants to fill a dozen vacant sworn positions.

“Fast Track” was designed to streamline and accelerate the police department’s hiring process.  The two-day event is scheduled Saturday, February 18, 2006 and Sunday, February 19, 2006 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Usually, it takes an applicant approximately four months to complete the application process. This special event will reduce the processing time to eight weeks.

During the event, applicants will complete the following stages of the process: application review, documents notarized, criminal history check, driving history check, credit history check, comprehensive check of past, oral board interview, previous employer verification, personal reference checks, computerized voice stress analysis and fingerprints.

Individuals, interested in participating in “Fast Track,” must bring test results indicating their completion of the basic ability test and physical agility test taken at any accredited institution in Florida. Locally, the test is being offered twice before “Fast Track” at IRCC on January 26, 2006 and February 9, 2006. Contact IRCC at 772-462-7676 for more information.

On February 18th and19th, applicants should also bring their completed application packet, birth certificate, driver license, social security card, military DD-214 (if applicable) and any other required documents requested in the application packet. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and a strong desire to learn, possess a high school diploma or GED, be a US Citizen, have a valid driver license, pass drug screen, be of good moral character, pass fingerprint check, have no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving “moral turpitude,” honorable military discharge (if applicable) and pass preliminary examinations and an in-depth background check.
