WASHINGTON February 24, 2006-- MSgt. Mike Davis, an information technology project officer from OCIO has been named the Joint Staff Air Force Senior NCO of the Year.

“Being named the Air Force SNCO of the Year is an awesome feeling and huge responsibility,” he said. “The NCO corps of the entire Joint Staff is excellent and without all the support of senior NCOs and NCOs working together as a team, this achievement would not have been possible.”

Davis said as a project officer his responsibility is to field IT solutions that will help action officers across the staff. They need to have the tools available to make quick, relevant decisions to support the Joint Staff mission.

Over the past year Davis was instrumental in a $3.5 million Joint Staff Action Process program that included a major system upgrade.

He also has been involved in updating the JS forms program, a new web based Defense Message Service, and helped troubleshoot and repair J-4’s Joint Logistics Operation Center force analysis system.

Besides his work accomplishments Davis completed 12 hours towards a Bachelors degree from the University of Maryland in Computer Information Technology and a Cisco Certified Network Associate program.

Davis is also involved with the community, helping with local fund raising events and activities for the International Rhet Syndrome Association. He also volunteered support of fund raising efforts for Hurricane Katrina and Rita.

Davis has been on the Joint Staff since May 2004 and initially assigned as a technical support technician.
