Seattle Cabbie: Anti Muslim

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: A believer does not taunt, curse, abuse, or talk indecently. " Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 544 The Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-WA) today called on the FBI to investigate an incident in which a Muslim cab driver was taunted with religious slurs as a possible hate crime.  According to the Muslim driver, on February 11th, 2009, four white passengers taunted him with slurs such as this guy`s a terrorist" and he looks like Osama`s cousin." When the driver ordered the passengers to get out of his taxi, they allegedly stole the vehicle`s official identification. The driver called 911 and reported the license plate number of the car in which the four passengers left the scene. Because of the religious slurs used by the passengers, we call on local law enforcement authorities and the FBI to investigate this incident as a possible hate crime, " said CAIR-WA Executive Director Arsalan Bukhari. Racial or religious slurs targeting those who serve the public should never be tolerated.
