Obama to Speak about New Security Measures

President Barack Obama will meet with his cabinet this afternoon to discuss national security. He will then announce new security measures at 4 p.m. EST. The meeting is in response to the failed Christmas Day bombing attempt.

During the meeting, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Robert Mueller will detail the investigation regarding the manner in which Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab allegedly smuggled explosives onto a Northwest Airlines flights. The investigation will also indentify how numerous warnings about him were ignored.

The Christmas Day bombing has stirred up a plethora of responses on a global scale. In Yemen, security forces, after consultation with U.S. officials, killed two alleged al Qaeda militants outside the capital of San`a on Monday. In this capital city, U.S. and British embassies stayed closed as terrorism threats lingered.
