The Cuban Nation Renew Bilateral Ties with India

By SOP newswire

Indian Foreign Minister Anand Sharma on Tuesday reiterated the need to renew trade and political ties between India and Cuba and vowed that relationship between the two sovereign states will improve.

Cuban vice president Carlos Lage told reporters in Cuba, "The economic relations with Cuba are going very well, but they will go even better."

He described Sharma's trip as "the traditionally friendly and fraternal relations that have always existed between Cuba and India."

The Indian official led a delegation of businessmen and other officials to an intergovernmental meeting held in Havana, Cuba on Monday.

During the meeting, Sharma pledged "his country's willingness to increase economic and cooperation relations with Cuba to raise them to the rank of the political relations," reports the Cuban official newspaper Granma.

Sharma was quoted as saying, "Our two countries have worked together in multilateral forums and also have worked very strongly in mutual interests."
