Clifford Hobbs arrested in Spain
Clifford Hobbs, wanted in connection with allegations of robbery, firearms offences and escaping from lawful custody, was arrested yesterday on a European arrest warrant.
The arrest follows an operation by the Specialist Crime Directorate, Serious Organised Crime Agency and authorities in Spain.
He remains in custody in Spain while the MPS seeks extradition.
In June 2003 Hobbs escaped from a Securicor prisoner transport van whilst being taken from HMP Brixton to the Inner London Crown Court for a court appearance.
The van was ambushed by two men on foot, both in possession of handguns.
Noel Cunningham and Hobbs were co-defendants and were charged with conspiracy to steal £1.25 million from a Securicor van in Effra Road, Brixton in March 2003. Cunningham is still wanted by police.
Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Cunningham is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
