Passenger Plane Hijacked in Turkey

Passenger Plane Hijacked in Turkey

By SOP newswire

A passenger plane belonging to Atlas airline flying from Lefkose (Nicosia) (Cyprus) to Istanbul with over 140 passengers was hijacked shortly after take-off.

Pilots insisted on landing at Antalya (Turkey) for fueling, in despite of hijackers' protest who wanted that the plane is flown to Iran.

At Antalya airport the pilots broke the windshields at the cockpit and jumped out of the plane to make it impossible for the highjack to take the plane to Iran.

One of the hijackers had a Syrian passport, the other was Turkish. After 5, 5 hours of negotiations with the hi-jackets, passengers were saved and the hi- jackets surrendered.
