Winners of the awards receive plaques plus £5,000 in monetary awards.
The 11 award categories include the Commissioner's Community Safety Peace Award for best community safety/crime reduction initiative. It is easy to vote for someone or something you feel deserves recognition for creating a safer and peaceful London. Simply log on to www.weekofpeace.org.uk and complete a nomination form.
Sir Ian Blair, Met Commissioner, said:
"The Week of Peace represents a unique opportunity for London's communities to reach out and celebrate the work that so many individuals, groups and agencies perform for the benefit of others. Raising the profile of community safety and cohesion in response to issues of violence is crucial. Safer Neighbourhoods teams in particular will play a vital role in this."
The Week's activities will kick off with a 5k Peace Run and Family Event on Sunday 9th September. Other citywide activities include concerts, lectures, a talent quest and a variety of Peace Services across communities in London.
