Famous Lenin Statue Has Been Bombed
History has exposed Vladimir Lenin`s communist ideology as an intellectual fraud and a ruthless dictatorship. At one time communism battled capitalism for world supremacy, but now only a handful of nations cling to the discredited philosophy.
However Lenin`s body survives to this day, the Bolshevik leader`s corpse remains on display in a mausoleum in Moscow. Why anyone would want to pay homage to a man who was responsible for the death of millions is another story.
Hundreds of statues of Lenin were erected in Russia, many did not survive the uprising that finally toppled communism in the early 1990`s. The bronze statue of Lenin, in the city of St. Petersburg is the most famous, and it survived the mobs who destroyed many symbols of the hated communist government.
But the bronze statue of Lenin has suffered an ignoble and humiliating act of vandalism:
"One of Russia`s most famous statues of Vladimir Lenin has been bombed, leaving the Bolshevik revolutionary with a gaping hole in his rear.
The bronze statue, in the city of St Petersburg, was badly damaged before dawn on Wednesday, when the blast blew a hole in Lenin`s coat.
No-one was hurt in the attack, the motive for which was unknown." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7976883.stm
To put it into today`s vernacular somebody "capped Lenin`s ass". The sculptor depicted Lenin as a historical and majestic figure, but the damaged Lenin statue is an object of ridicule.
I hope the statue is not repaired, history has clearly shown that Lenin should be despised and ridiculed -- not loved and honored.
