A Hugo Chavez Speech Will Put Anybody To Sleep
"Venezuelan President is offering parents a cure for children who don`t want to go to sleep. Have them watch his televised speeches.
`It seems that there are mothers here who, instead of putting their kids to sleep with cartoons, put them to sleep with Chavez, ` he said.
`And the child dozes off and dozes off, and Chavez speaks and speaks and speaks. And the child falls asleep,` said the loquacious leader, well known for speeches that can last for hours."
In the American media Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is portrayed as the devil incarnate, but Chavez is adored in his own country and respected throughout Central and South America.
Hugo fights American hegemony and adventurism in Latin America, and he has used his country`s oil wealth to help Latin American countries.
Chavez isn`t a monster who kills anyone who speaks ill of him, he has a self-deprecating sense of humor.
Even longwinded speakers like Bill Clinton and Fidel Castro have to take a backseat to Chavez. I imagine that even insomniacs would fall asleep listening to a Hugo Chavez speech.
President Obama needs to make friendly overtures to President Chavez, he has much to learn about political stagecraft from this Latin American hero.
