The Secretary General met with UK Prime Minister Cameron, as well as with Deputy Prime Minister Clegg, Foreign Secretary Hague and Defence Secretary Fox. The principal topic of discussion was Afghanistan, where the Secretary General and the Prime Minister agreed that progress is being made, and that transition to Afghan lead should take place as conditions allow.

They looked forward to the November Summit in Lisbon, and in particular to the new Strategic Concept. They also agreed on the need for reform of the Alliance, to streamline the structures and improve efficiency.
