New Zealand Rocked by 7.0 Earthquake, Alaska Rocked by 6.3 Earthquake

By Judyth Piazza CEO (Editor)

An earthquake measuring 7.0 in magnitude has rocked New Zealand.  Witnesses say that there is quite a bit of structural damage.  The earthquake had a depth of 33 kms (20.5 miles) and it struck around 4:35 a.m. Saturday (11:35 a.m. Friday CDT).

The earthquake epicenter is located near the Christchurch.  Radio New Zealand`s presenter or anchor on its national service said that Christchurch`s airport is closed as officials inspect it for damage, which sounds like standard procedure.

The New Zealand earthquake was just one of several recent earthquakes. A strong earthquake struck the Andreanof Islands in Alaska today at 2:16 p.m. local time (1116 GMT). There is also a volcano erupting in Indonesia.  Are these global events a sign of the pending polar shift?

Currently there are no confirmed fatalities or Tsunami warning in place.

Twitter has reported an overwhelming response on its social network with discussion and assistance.
