Study: Processed Meats Pose Health Risks
"Eating bacon, sausage, hot dogs and other processed meats can raise the risk of heart disease and diabetes, U.S. researchers said on Monday in a study that identifies the real bad boys of the meat counter.
They defined processed meat as any meat preserved by smoking, curing or salting, or with the addition of chemical preservatives. Meats in this category included bacon, salami, sausages, hot dogs or processed deli or luncheon meats." Reuters
It doesn`t take a rocket scientist or a nutritionist to determine that processed meats aren`t good for you. But it`s boring and psychologically unhealthy to eschew fun foods like a juicy hot dog or a crispy slice of bacon.
A 7th grader could have could have come up with the same results at a fraction of the price, and after only a few minutes of googling information.
Eating unprocessed meats does not raise risks of heart attacks and diabetes, so you can enjoy pork chops or a steak without feeling guilty.
But truth be told, I never feel guilty when I eat a Colossus Burger or a foot long wiener. Life is too short, and there are too few pleasures in life. Go for all the gusto in life, and relish every hot dog and every salami sandwich.
