Middle America gave a resounding answer to the GOP elitist pundits yesterday - Mike Huckabee reflects their values as a true conservative Republican nominee for President.  Typically, this morning's news shows virtually ignored the fact that in spite of having minimal resources, Governor Huckabee broke out as main street's alternative to Senator McCain.  This shook up the GOP establishment so much that they even trotted out a prettier-than-usual talking head on Fox News this morning!
The migration of our wartime surge capacity is an issue that Duncan Hunter courageously raised and for doing so, he was marginalized by the media like he was a minor party candidate.  When I studied this issue in the Army War College during the mid-90s it was bad, and it has only gotten worse.   China is an emerging global superpower and military peer, and thus a very real potential threat to United States vital National interests.  Bain Capital is Romney's old flag ship company that he touts as evidence of his managerial and executive ability.  Bain is the major facilitator of the China - 3 M deal.  As Congressman Hunter, Ranking House Armed Services Committee Member has repeatedly emphasized, the majority of venture capital firms like Bain will not even talk with a company until they answer the question "when are you moving your production to China".
Mike Huckabee received Duncan Hunter's endorsement because he recognizes that a sound economic foundation sustaining a prosperous and growing middle class is imperative for America's National Security.  He has pledged to build the border fence because he knows we can't get there with open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens which McCain has twice championed.  America definitely won't make it with business practices like those of the Bain Capital Corporation. Romney has failed to intervene with Bain to drop its strategic partnership with Chinese defense contractor Huawei Technologies, in a bid to buy U.S. defense contractor 3Com.  Actions like this endanger American National Security, and Duncan made it clear that anyone who condones these types of business practices is unfit to be Commander-in-Chief.
Viewing Governor Huckabee's Presidential performance at the Commonwealth Club on C-Span last Thursday after having spent three hours in meetings on a range of National Security and economic issues between Congressman Hunter and Governor Huckabee on January 26, only reinforces my confidence in Governor Huckabee as best suited to be our next Commander-in-Chief.
