Biggest Clown: Al Sharpton Or Glenn Beck?
"Thousands of people rallied by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, among them the Tea Party faithful, began descending Saturday on the very spot where the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous `I Have a Dream" speech exactly 47 years ago. Glenn Beck, the Fox News TV host and conservative darling, is a huckster in the tradition of Elmer Gantry. The Mormon talk show host can summon tears with the practiced ease of a Jimmy Swaggart.
Crowd sizes have historically been hard to gauge at the National Mall, but organizers said they expected 100,000 or more people to show for the "Restoring Honor" rally, controversial because of its timing and location." - CNN.Com
Televangelists employ bogeymen like homosexuality and abortion to raise funds for the glory of God and their own enrichment. Glenn Beck rides the wave of free floating angst and fear of change and progress to spike ratings and build up his bank accounts.
Beck claims, with a straight face, that the timing of his event is coincidental. Beck knows that he would be guaranteed tons of free publicity by holding his circus on the hallowed ground where Martin Luther King delivered his most famous speech.
The Rev. Al Sharpton is planning to rally at a high school and march with his supporters to the the same area where Beck will be conducting his sideshow.
If anyone wants to get a taste of what hell will be like, he should stand in between the competing rallies. It would be a nightmare to hear Beck The Crying Wimp and Al Sharpton The Civil Rights Pimp in stereo.
To hell with Beck and Sharpton, neither one symbolizes the dream of Martin Luther King. Sharpton expolits racial tensions to stay in the public spotlight, and Beck ingnores racial prejudice and inequality.
Those of us who believe in the Rev. Martin Luther King`s dream will ignore both of these contemptible human beings.
