Australian painter, Clare Llewelyn, comes to Free Range Studio

By SOP newswire

Award winning Australian painter, Clare Llewelyn, will be conducting a workshop on creating found object collages at the Free Range Studio on Tuesday evening, March 4th from 6pm-9pm. Cost for the class including most materials: $60.

Clare will be giving this class in conjunction with her show,  Landscape and Signals now on display at the Free Range Studio.  Clare, who is known for her powerful abstract paintings and her large sculptural constructions has combined her painting skills with her sculptural work to create a stunning series of found object collages/paintings.

As Clare says of this coming together of two genres:  “The work conveys a suggestion of place and landscape and perhaps a metaphor for any landscape, any place intrinsically known by everyone.  It is a landscape in transformation.”

During the workshop, Clare will talk about her work as well as share techniques used in creating the works.  Participants will then create their own collage using bits and pieces of found objects and paint.

Clare’s show will be at the Free Range Studio from now until the end of March.   There will be a special reception for Clare at the Studio during the First Friday opening:  March 7th from 6-9.

Class size is limited to six (6) people.  In order to make reservations for the class, please email Carrie Knowles:
