Angel: Gone Too Soon

Angel: Gone Too Soon

By Garrett Godwin

For over 200 years, he brought nothing but chaos and destruction in the world.  A vampire with not only the face of an angel, but he was also an angel of evil.  Now, cursed with a soul, he must set things right not only for others, but also for himself. David Boreanaz reprised his role as Angel, the spin-off of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer in the fall of 1999.  In the series, Angel is now in L.A. after leaving Sunnydale behind, including true love Buffy.  It is there in the "City Of"... when he seeks redemption for his crimes against humanity.  With the aid of his growing allies such as Cordeila Chase (Charisma Carpenter) and Charles Gunn (J. August Richards), Angel sets out to save lost souls in hopes of saving his own.  However, he becomes a formidable opponent of the evil law firm, Wolfram & Hart.

Like Buffy, Angel became a critical and cult favorite during its five-year run until it was cancelled by the then-WB Network in 2004 despite fan support to keep the show going.  Angel is even better than Buffy because it is a very dark and gritty show.  Whereas Buffy is about "girl power", Angel is about-facing your demons with redemption always the overall theme of the series.

Angel is a tragic character that is always haunted by his past, walking a fine line between good and evil.  No matter how much good he has done, it will be never be enough.  He knows that the battle between good and evil will always go on with or without him.  Still, the true battle lies within him due to his evil alter-ego Angelus, who will always be with him.  However, Angel knows the importance of fighting the good fight as he continues to discover his true purpose in the world: a champion for humanity.

He will not fade away as he is still fights the forces of evil every morning in syndication on TNT and all five seasons available on DVD.

His name is Angel: going to work and beating the bad guys.
