Newt Gingrich Blames Passion For America For His Many Affairs
"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, married three times and a self-admitted adulterer, says he screwed around because of his passion for America.
`There`s no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and that things happened in my life that were not appropriate," Gingrich told CBS News.
While serving in Congress, Gingrich had a reputation for playing around. He admits to an affair with is third wife while he was still married to number two and he served divorce papers on wife number one while she was in the hospital undergoing treatment for cancer. His second wife, Marianne, says Gingrich proposed to her while still married to number one."
Newt Gingrich makes Charlie Sheen look like a monk, he goes through women like Oprah Winfrey goes through bon bons. You`d think that Newt`s promiscuity would make him anathema to evangelicals, but he`s a darling of the evangelical right. A profession of faith in Jesus Christ covers a multitude of sins. Fundamentalists will turn a blind eye to Newt`s many affairs as long as he continues to bash homosexuals, liberals and feminists.
Newt Gingrich a Baptist since graduate school converted to Catholicism in 2009, it remains to be seen if he will be supported by evangelicals if he runs for president.
I`ve heard every excuse from a politician who cheats on his wife, everything from "I`m suffering from sex addiction" to "the devil made me do it." But I think it`s safe to say that no man in history has ever used the excuse, "I cheated on my wife because of my love for my country."
Newt`s novel excuse is a testament to his ego and his moral depravity. If the evangelical community continues to stand behind Gingrich it will be testament to their hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy.
Gingrich should be anathema to the left and the right, every patriotic American should agree that scum like him shouldn`t be considered a legitimate presidential candidate.
