NYC Pizza Run: Great Idea For Those Who Hate Running

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Athletes brought a new meaning to eat and run, participating in a 2.5-mile New York City race with three pizza-grabbing stops, the event organizer said.

Saturday`s staging at Tompkins Square Park began the second annual NYC Pizza Run."

The only rewards you get for running are aching muscles and sunburn. The NYC Pizza Run is a step in the right direction, but it doesn`t far enough.

I don`t like the concept of a pizza-grabbing stop; how about a stop that includes tables and chairs where scantily-clad waitresses serve pizza and beer?

Professional marathoner Peter O`Rourke, 23, crossed the finish line first with a time of 15 minutes, 24 seconds. That`s ridiculously fast; an "athlete" like me would spend that much time at the pizza stop.

There should be a masseuse ready and eager to perform her magic on each runner who crosses the finish line.
