Buy An Automobile And Get A Free Firearm

Buy An Automobile And Get A Free Firearm

By Robert Paul Reyes

" A Missouri car dealer said on Thursday sales have soared at his auto and truck business since launching a promotion this week that promises buyers a free handgun or a $250 gas card with every purchase.

Max Motors, a small Butler, Missouri dealership that has as its logo a grimacing cowboy wielding a pistol, has sold more than 30 cars and trucks in the last three days, far more than its normal volume. And owner Mark Muller credits his decision to start offering buyers their choice of a $250 gas card or a $250 credit at a gun shop"

I love wacky promotions, and I admire people who think outside the box, but I hope this publicity scheme backfires.

A gun is a deadly weapon (Duh) and should be purchased only after much deliberation. A gun should not be given away by a car dealer as a way to entice customers to purchase his cars. This promotion will undoubtedly result in people getting guns who haven't been properly trained in firearm safety, and who haven't fully thought out the ramifications of owning a gun.

I own a handgun and a shotgun that I keep loaded with buckshot. I won't hesitate for a split second from blowing away anyone who breaks into my home. Hopefully this declaration will prevent me from getting emails saying I'm just a liberal who wants to outlaw firearms.

"Every buyer so far 'except one guy from Canada and one old guy' has elected to take the gun, Muller said. Muller recommends his customers select a Kel-Tec .380 pistol."

I'm not surprised customers are opting for the gun, if you have a firearm in your glove compartment, you don't need to pay for gas.

I hope Muller considers giving away free microwave ovens or boom boxes instead of guns. What's the worst thing a person can do with a boom box, blast away a Britney Spears CD?
