Great Lake Monster Caught on Camera
Two mythical beasts, the Montauk Monster and Bigfoot, have captured headlines and become Internet sensations this summer. Sweden has its own legendary beast to promote; coincidentally, Sweden`s version of the Loch Ness Monster has been caught on camera.
"Sweden`s own version of the Loch Ness monster, the Storsjoe or Great Lake monster, has been caught on film by surveillance videos, an association that installed the cameras said Friday.
The legend of the Swedish beast has swirled for nearly four centuries, with some 200 sightings reported in the lake in central Sweden."
Bigfoot turned out to be a rubber gorilla suit filled with road kill. The promoters of the Great Lake Monster have learned a lesson, they didn`t claim to have captured the mythical beast. It would kill tourism if the proof turned out to be a giant rubber imposter. In this age of digital photography its easy to manipulate images, and difficult to spot alterations.
It`s interesting that it was the head of the shopkeepers` association in Svenstavik who announced that the monster had been caught on tape. I`ll make a wild guess that most of those shopkeepers sell Great Lake Monster souvenirs.
It will take more than suspect footage of a mythical creature to make me visit Sweden, but I wish the Great Lake Monster hucksters all the luck in the world.
