Top Ramen: A Poor Man's Favorite Meal

Top Ramen: A Poor Man's Favorite Meal

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Britons are entering the downturn unable to cut household costs because they don`t know how to cook cheap meals, turning instead to fast food, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver said Wednesday.

Britain is witnessing a `new poverty that we have never seen before,` Oliver told parliament`s health committee.

`This isn`t about flash trainers or mobile phones or Sky dishes or plasma TV screens. It is a poverty of being able to nourish their family, in any class (of society),` he said."

Things are just as bad in America and it`s imperative that we know how to stretch our food dollar. It doesn`t make any sense to frequent fast food joints in an attempt to save money, any pennies you will save at McDonald`s you will burn away in gas.

Haven`t the Brits heard of Top Ramen, a package of these semi-delicious noodles costs only about 18 cents. Every American student and down on his luck Joe Sixpack has stocked his cupboards with Top Ramen at one time or another.

I know that you have to be a chemist to be familiar with the ingredients found in Top Ramen, but just add a dash of hot sauce and it`s actually edible.

I haven`t stocked my cupboards with Top Ramen yet, but the way things are going I will soon be knee-deep in Top Ramen.
