Cafe Grumpy Sells $12 Cup Of Coffee

By Robert Paul Reyes

"How much would you pay for a cup of coffee? How about $12?!

Patrons at a small New York chain called
Cafe Grumpy are getting an unexpected jolt from its new $12 cup - a price some six times higher than Starbucks fetches.

But this brew is like a fine glass of wine, according to the distributor of the beans, called
Nekisse beans, which are grown, handpicked and coddled in Ethiopia."

I love coffee, I can`t get the day started without a cup of Java. By the time I`m ready to hit the sack I`ve consumed anywhere from four to eight cups of Joe.

Most people drink coffee in the morning to get energized, a cup of $12 coffee will make your eyes pop out.

But I have never paid more than three bucks for a cup of the wonderful beverage. I eschew trendy cafes that sell highly overpriced coffee, a cup of coffee from McDonald`s or 7/11 will do me just fine.

If I walked into Cafe Grumpy and the menu included a cup of coffee for $12, I would be grumpy as hell.

There`s a sucker born every minute, and I have no doubt that Cafe Grumpy will make a killing. But I`m satisfied drinking coffee made from my coffee maker.
