Pastor Walks 60 Miles For Charity: Hero Or Publicity Hound?

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Huntington Beach, Calif., pastor says his walking 60 miles in five-mile increments around his church was in dedication to a parishioner with eye cancer.

preacherPastor Bob Ewing of the First Christian Church says he has taken up fitness challenges before but when he turned 60 he decided to dedicate this particular effort to parishioner Jake Olson, 13, blind from retinoblastoma, The Orange County (Calif.) Register reported.

Ewing says his hopes to raise at least $6,000 from family and friends who donated $1 a mile before he began his walk." - UPI
I realize that Pastor Bob isn`t a spring chicken, but walking 60 miles in five-mile increments around his church isn`t exactly something to crow about.

The lazy minister didn`t even have to drive somewhere to begin is epic walk, he simply stepped outside his rectory. Gee, what an exciting way to begin a grueling test of physical endurance.

I wouldn`t donate a dime for the Rev`s "fitness challenge", he should be ashamed of himself.

At mile 50 the "man of god" had the the nerve to complain that his "feet were taking a beating". The good folks who donated money should demand their money back.

I know the cleric is walking for a good cause, but he should at least have tied weights around his ankles.
