Clay Aiken Comes Out Of The Closet
"This news is shocking, on par with `birds fly,` `fish swim` and `water is wet.` Clay Aiken is gay. The birth of his son, Parker, in August spurred Aiken to come out of the closet. `I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things,` the star of `Spamalot` said. Aiken, who came out to his family a few years ago, hopes this announcement doesn`t cost him many Clayniacs."
I am "shocked, shocked, shocked," that Aiken is gay, what astounding revelation is next? Will Dick Cheney issue a press release stating: Yes, I`m an evil bastard?
You don`t have to be a rocket scientist or a sex therapist to discern that Aiken is gay, but suburban housewives make up a good chunk of Aiken`s fan base, and some of them may not have realized that the polite, fey and mild mannered American idol is as gay as it gets.
Aiken should be judged my his musical abilities or lack thereof, hopefully his devout fans won`t turn his back on him because of his sexual orientation.
Aiken doesn`t rely on hit singles to sell out his concerts, his mature fans will buy tickets to see their hero regardless of his standings in the pop charts.
That kind of loyalty transcends sexual politics, I pray that even his evangelical Christian fans will "overlook" his gayness.
Aiken seems like a nice guy, I wish him nothing but continued success. I am happy he`s out of the closet, hopefully he will inspire other entertainers to come out.
