I'm basically just another high school student, but I've always really loved writing. Though I never had the willpower to actually write the novel that would make me a famous child author, I've always really liked writing poetry and random bits of fiction, and as much as school has made me really hate writing essays, I tend to have some fun with those too.
What I'm really looking for is a portal to show some of my "fun", fictitious works to the world (judging by comments, they're not that bad!), and make my school essays avaliable to students everywhere—not so they can turn in another student's essay, but so they can gather some ideas together easily that might otherwise be pretty hard to compile (take my analytical essay on the combined aspects of Kazakhstan, for example).
I've been involved with various writing process for quite some time. I co-edited a school newspaper at my last school, and have been actively involved witht he editing process of my current high school's liberal arts magazine, 'The Setting Stone'. Though I sadly haven't had much experience with more public, more widely-viewed writing, this website is one way I hope to start to amend that. My writing talents have been generally pretty well-received, at least judging by my consistent (and coveted) A+ grade in my schools English Honors class, for what it's worth. I also merited an "Outstanding Delegate" award, out of nearly 1200 Ohio delegates, for speech writing and presentation, and a "Best Resolution" award for having personally written the most outstanding resolution out of nearly 150 submitted at the 2005 Senior Ohio Model United Nations.
I'd really like to become a speechwriter, a journalist, or a novelist (all of which is rather ambitious) later in life, and hope to pursue 'Speech' as a major in college a year and a half from now, after graduation from high school (I'm currently a junior at Talawanda High School, in Oxford, Ohio). At present, though, all I really want to do is submit my poetry, fiction, and essays—on all topics, from literature to science to social studies—to some sort of online publisher to make them widely avaliable.
