Foreign Cyberspies Penetrate US Power Grid

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Cyberspies have penetrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

The spies came from China, Russia and other countries, and were believed to be on a mission to navigate the U.S. electrical system and its controls, the newspaper said, citing current and former U.S. national security officials." Reuters

If we get into a crisis with China over Taiwan or North Korea, the communist dictatorship could threaten to damage our power grid.

This is an untenable situation, the greatest democracy in the world can`t allow itself to be at the mercy of these Trojan Horse malware programs. The Obama administration must immediately beef up its cybersecurity. We are not dealing with teenage hackers who have threatened to turn the power off during the American Idol finals, but with adversaries who evidently have the power to cripple us by damaging our power grid.

We shouldn`t waste our limited financial resources building a fence on the US/Mexico border to prevent hardworking immigrants from their chance at the American Dream. We should be focusing oon protecting our vital computer systems from Russian and Chinese spies.

Take it with a grain of salt, but China and Russia have denied any spying on US infrastructure.
