Commonwealth Games: Athletes Clog Drains With Condoms

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Thousands of flushed condoms threaten to choke the Commonwealth Games village`s drainage system, media reports said, in the latest problem to hit the venue from hidden snakes to outbreaks of dengue.

Games organizers, who won a race against time to ready the village, are now battling to clear clogged drains after thousands of non-biodegradeable contraceptives were flushed down toilets in the first week of the event.

If that is happening, it shows that there is use of condoms and I think that is a very positive story. Athletes are being responsible, Commonwealth Games Federation President Mike Fennell told a news conference Thursday."

I hope the organizers of the Commonwealth Games have learned their lesson, and the next time the Games will be held in a wealthy nation, and not in a Third World country.

The New Delhi Commonwealth games have been plagued with marauding monkeys, dangerous snakes, outbreaks of dengue, and now clogged drains.

It`s foreign athletes and not locals who are clogging the drains with contraceptives. India will never become a superpower until it addresses its overpopulation problem. Indians can start by following the sterling example of the foreign athletes and engage in safe sex.

Better drains clogged with condoms than streets filled with beggars and homeless.
