Police Officers Arrest Dudes For Playing Chess In Park

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Seven New York men said they were issued desk-appearance tickets for playing chess in an area of a park designated for kids.

The men said they were playing at the chess tables in a Manhattan park Oct. 20 when police officers arrived and issued them tickets for `failure to comply with signs,` the New York Post reported Thursday.

The chess tables at the park are in a fenced-in area bearing a sign reading: `Adults allowed in playground areas only when accompanied by a child under the age of 12.`" UPI

In this instance New York Finest behaved like Gestapo thugs. The middle-aged men playing chess didn`t pose a threat to the children or anyone else. Would to God public parks were inhabited by men playing chess, instead of young thugs drinking beer and up to no good.

The cops should have simply asked the men to move away from the area designated "for children only." The police officers should chase drug dealers away from the park, and leave the chess-playing men alone.

The solution is quite simple, move the chess tables away from the children`s area.
