"A California woman says her candle wax had melted into an image of what looked to her like the Virgin Mary when she finished praying the rosary.
Mari Valenzuela of Alhambra said she began saying the rosary on a nightly basis a few months ago but she never noticed anything unusual until she completed the prayer Dec. 4 and looked and the candle she had previously lit, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, reported Wednesday.
Valenzuela said the 6-inch candle appears to have the image of the Virgin Mary kneeling and praying."
Yesterday I wrote an article about this "miracle", and today Valenzuela sent me an email seeking to clarify some points. Maria took exception to my portrayal of her as a "devout Catholic", she wrote:
I grew up as a Catholic, and back in the day only little old ladies who never missed mass prayed the rosary. My bad, I made a wrong assumption. I also assumed, although I didn`t publish this belief, that Valenzuela was a frumpy old lady. She`s probably an attractive lady, who has many interests besides Catholicism, candles, and rosary beads.
In spite of my error, Maria was still kind enough to wish me a Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas Mari, and please don`t sell your candle on eBay, or I will lose all faith in you.
