VegNews Defends Using Pics Of Meat To Illustrate Vegan Dishes

"A US vegetarian magazine has defended its use of pictures of meat to illustrate vegan dishes as a necessity brought about by cooking up a publication on a tight budget.

`Yes, from time to time, after exhausting all options, we have resorted to using stock photography that may or may not be vegan,` VegNews, which claims more than 200,000 subscribers, said in a letter to readers.

`In an ideal world we would use custom-shot photography for every spread, but it is simply not financially feasible for VegNews at this time,` the magazine said in the letter on its website, VegNews.com.

I don`t blame VegNews for using photos of real meat dishes to represent vegan dishes, a photo of a real meat hamburger looks more delicious than an image of a vegan burger.

VegNews subscribers have been lusting over photos of meat entrees, it`s time for them to take the next step and bite into a delicious steak or a juicy hamburger.

VegNews has lost all credibility, they have made a tacit admission that meat dishes look better and taste better.

A food magazine that features photos of real vegan entrees is as boring as a non-nude issue of Playboy magazine that features models in bikinis.
