Disgraced Minister Harold Camping Should Publicly Repent
"Harold Camping needs to publicly apologize for being wrong about his doomsday prediction and leading people astray, said a Southern Baptist leader.
The California radio broadcaster`s wrong prediction about the rapture and the end of the world reflected poorly on Christians, said Ed Stetzer, president of the Southern Baptist Convention`s LifeWay Research and LifeWay`s missiologist in residence."
It`s not often that I say "Amen" to a statement by an evangelical leader, but Amen, brother, Amen.
Harold Camping wasted millions advertising the End of the World, with similar fanfare he should appear in, public donning sackcloth and ashes, and humbly and sincerely repent.
But words alone, sincere as they might be, are not alone. The disgraced minister is sitting on a bankroll of $72 million, he needs to reimburse all those who sold their homes and personal belongs and gave the proceeds to his ministry.
Camping is a cynical, evil and perhaps demented old man, the end of the world (death) is coming for him very soon. The radio broadcaster wanted to destroy as many lives as possible before he died.
Belief in the Rapture is evil and antithetical to the teachings of Jesus Christ. The typical evangelical who believes in the Rapture is obsessed only with his own deliverance from tribulation, and he almost expresses a joy at the unbelievers who will be left behind to face God`s wrath.
If we learn anything from Camping`s folly, it`s that we should turn a deaf ear to any kook who babbles on about the Rapture.
