Amy Winehouse's Third Album Unfinished, Just Like Her Life
"Tragic Amy Winehouse`s much-awaited third album is not complete, and won`t be released in the near future, according to her producer Salaam Remi.
Following the star`s death at the weekend, speculation has grown about the material she recorded for her highly-anticipated follow-up to 2006`s Back to Black, which was slated to be released last year.
The singer`s unheard work was said to be enough to fill three albums, but Remi, a long-time producer and pal of Winehouse, insists it was nowhere near completion at the time of her passing, and is adamant rumours of an impending release are false."
Amy Winehouse`s debut album, Frank, was released on October 2003. Produced by Salaam Remi, the jazz-influenced CD received positive reviews.
The pop diva`s second and final album, Back to Black, was released on October 2006. The retro-soul effort spawned many hit singles, and it was universally acclaimed as a masterpiece.
For the past few years Amy`s fans have been anxiously waiting for her next album, unfortunately the troubled singer`s battles with addiction rendered her incapable of completing it.
The singer`s unreleased material can fill three albums, but is there enough good material for a CD that is as good as Frank or Back to Black? I hope the pop star`s record company doesn`t tarnish her legacy by releasing an album of outtakes just to make a quick buck.
It`s a fitting testament to Amy Winehouse that her final album is unfinished. As brilliant as Amy was, she was a work in progress. We can only imagine what works of genius a 40-something Amy would have created.
